Mountain Biking Day Camps - Richmond

Richmond has some of the best urban mountain biking trails around. Join our staff of experienced riders for a week on the trails this summer. Campers will develop beginner and intermediate mountain biking skills including: steering, shifting, hill climbing and descending, log hopping, dodging obstacles, etiquette, maintenance, safety and more.

Campers ride in the morning, have a midday activity like tubing or snorkeling on the James River, then get back on the bikes in the afternoon.

Campers are placed in groups from beginner to advanced intermediate, so they are riding with campers of the same ability.
We provide bikes and helmets, but campers are welcome to bring their own.

Campers should know how to ride a bike before signing up for this camp.

What to Bring and Wear to Mountain Bike Camp

Bikes and Helmets

Virginia Outside will provide KHS and Giant mountain bikes and helmets. However, we certainly encourage those campers with their own mountain bikes to bring them along. The bikes should have gears and hand brakes. If it is easier for transportation purposes, we can keep bikes all week if it makes it easier.

What Should Campers Wear?

1. Shorts or bathing suit

2. closed toed shoes

3. t-shirt

What Should Campers Bring With Them?

1. Sunscreen (a hat if they want)

2. An extra t-shirt

3. Close toed shoes or sandals (shoes would be preferable)

4. River shoes

5. An extra pair of socks

6. An extra pair of shorts (and underwear)

7. A bathing suit

8. towel

9. A sense of adventure

10. A Bag lunch

11. rain jacket

12. a change of clothes

13. towel

We will have plenty of sunscreen, but we do recommend campers put on sunscreen at home before they are dropped off (30 or higher is recommended as we will be in the sun all day). We will re-apply sunscreen after lunch.

* We will ride rain or shine as long as conditions remain safe.

* Please do not send your child to camp with expensive electronic equipment such as i-phones, i-pods, or video games unless you are sure they can handle the responsibility. These things break when they get wet, and we get wet every day. We will not be responsible for any electronics that are lost or broken.

Refund Policy

All deposits for camps and any programs or trips are non-refundable.
We understand that things happen and we do make exceptions in cases of physical injury that will not allow a camper to attend camp. When working with other programs, we adhere to their refund policies.

Please contact us directly if you need to withdraw from any camp, program, or trip.
