Nova Kayak Touring and Fishing Camp

Our fleet of Jackson  and Innova sit-on-top kayaks offers the perfect vehicle for adventure and excitement on Virginia's waters. They are easy to paddle, extrememly safe, and allow us to get close to the fish and wildlife.
This camp is perfect for campers who have been to our fishing camps before and are looking to do something a little different, or for those who have never been with us before, but who love being outside and in charge of their own destiny.

Our staff has completed the ACA Level I kayak assessment and will instruct campers on safety, paddling, and general maneuvering of a sit-on-top kayak. As campers learn throughout the week at various locations we incorporate fishing, sightseeing and touring while paddling on all types of water.

From local lakes and rivers like Bull Run, Fountainhead, and tidal creeks of the Potomac, we will progress to days on lazy rivers that include the Shenandoah, Rappahannock, and Rapidan Rivers.

A kayak is a great way to get close to nature and we expect to see bald eagles, ospreys, herons, deer and beaver. When we are fishing our catch will include large and smallmouth bass, catfish, sunfish, crappie, and anything else that bites. Kayaks, paddles, life vests, and fishing gear are provided by Virginia Outside.

What to Bring and Wear to Kayak Camp

Fishing Equipment

Virginia Fishing Adventures will provide all fishing rods/tackle/ bait, etc. However, we certainly encourage those campers with their own rods/reels and tackle to bring them along.

What Should Campers Wear?

1. shorts, bathing suit

2. t-shirt (preferably one you won’t mind having a little fish slime on)

3. sandals with straps, river shoes (like Keens) or old tennis shoes. (Crocs and flip flops are not a good choice as they fall off in the water)

4. Sunglasses (preferably polarized)

What Should Campers Bring With Them?

1. A Bag lunch

2. rain jacket

3. a change of clothes

4. towel

We will have plenty of sunscreen, but we do recommend campers put on sunscreen at home before they are dropped off (30 or higher is recommended as we will be in the sun all day). We will re-apply sunscreen after lunch.

* We will fish rain or shine as long as conditions remain safe.

NOTICE: Please do not send your child to camp with expensive electronic equipment such as i-phones, i-pods, or video games unless you are sure they can handle the responsibility. These things break when they get wet, and we get wet every day. We will not be responsible for any electronics that are lost or broken.

Refund Policy

All deposits for camps and any programs or trips are non-refundable.
We understand that things happen and we do make exceptions in cases of physical injury that will not allow a camper to attend camp. When working with other programs, we adhere to their refund policies.

Please contact us directly if you need to withdraw from any camp, program, or trip.
